Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Precautions for Sep
-
Use an iron hook to open the septic tank cover, then use a long bamboo pole (8 meters) to stir and break up the caked layer of debris inside the tank.
-
Drive the vacuum sewage suction truck to the work site, connect the sewage suction hoses (5 meters long, 3 pieces prepared) and lower them into the septic tank.
-
Start the vacuum truck, suck out feces and pollutants until most of the caked matter in the tank is removed. Prevent contamination of the work site and passersby’s clothing.
-
Close the septic tank cover tightly, then rinse the work site and all tools with clean water.
-
Septic tanks should generally be cleaned twice a year:
-
90% of the contents in the first-stage tank shall be removed;
-
75% of the contents in the second-stage tank shall be removed;
-
All hard surface deposits in the third-stage tank shall be completely removed.
-
After cleaning:
-
Visually inspect that no sediments float on the water surface inside the tank;
-
Ensure unobstructed inlet and outlet;
-
Prevent sewage from overflowing to the ground.
-
After opening the septic tank cover, ventilate for 10-15 minutes first. Do not stand near the tank edge. Prohibit open flames, smoking, or mobile phone use near the tank to prevent methane gas ignition, explosion, or personal injury.
-
Under no circumstances should personnel enter the tank to work (to avoid poisoning or drowning). If entry is absolutely necessary, personnel must wear gas masks, chemical protective clothing, and take all relevant protective measures.
-
During the operation, workers shall not leave the site with the tank cover open. After cleaning, close the cover immediately to prevent passersby from falling into the tank and causing accidents.
